PH Azkals Devoured Sri Lanka Brave Reds

“The Philippines was the better team today.” This is what Coach Jang Jung of the Sri Lanka Brave Reds said after their team got a beating from the Philippine Azkals

Amidst the heavy downpour which started at the early first half of the game,  a crowd of Filipino fans, 12,000 people strong, cheered on for their new-found heroes in the field of sports. It was indeed a sweet victory not just for the Azkals but also for the entire country.

The first goal was scored in the 19th minute if the first half after Chieffy Caligdong fashionably eluded two defenders in the box before striking that 1st goal. That goal started the onslaught which was followed by four more goals.

The second score that the Fil-British striker Phil Younghusband got after finding himself suddenly unmarked in the box and hit the goal, was signaled a foul at first by the referee. Good thing the lead referee consulted the linesman and later on let the goal to stand. Lucky Phil might have gotten that luck from the presence of Angel Locsin who was in the dug out later after the game. (some guys just get it all, right?)

Angel amongst the crowd

The Philippine Azkals must make the best out of this win against Sri Lanka. They must not let this get into their heads and know that there are tougher games ahead specially that now they will be preparing for the second-round two-leg tie against Kuwait. The first leg will be played in Kuwait on July 23 and the second in Manila on July 28. Kuwait is no Sri Lanka team. They can’t be considered a push-over. Overconfidence must not get into the Azkals because it could bring them down.

Azkals coach Michael Weiss though knows what his team will be up to and what they have to prepare for.

"So we have to change our tactics, but nevertheless, if we stand compact we will have a chance. The first match will be played under incredible hot weather and we have to play smart and not waste our energy against an opponent who moves the ball very fast and technically superior.

"We have to analyze them carefully. I have all their tapes and I am looking forward to the challenge."

The Legend of The Seeker: Season 3???

As I was browsing the net, I stumbled into a buzz about one of the TV Series that I have been following. I learned of a big chance that the series wont get another chance to air for its Third Season. Now that should raise a lot of complaints from those following the said TV series. I just recently found out that the said show does have a lot of followers.

The Legend of the Seeker, like most of the series I follow, really didn't get my attention at first. I am no expert in acting but the main character, Richard Cipher, played by Craig Horner, seemed to be off with his delivery. Well, I thought it would be like another "Robin Hood' or 'King Arthur" type movie. Most of it's scenes would take place in forests and castles and the Seeker's primary weapon is a sword--The Sword of Truth. It is set during the medieval times.

But to my surprise, I find myself always wanting to see more one episode after another. Slowly the characters are becoming more familiar to me each and every episode. The Mother Confessor Khlan Amnell, got me into liking her and her power to confess people. She can make these "confessed" people to follow her orders until she dies. She's one mean and kick-ass lady too. Most of the time, she finds it somehow pleasurable and satisfying to slit the D'Haran soldiers' throat with her daggers while staring at their eyes.

The wizard Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, who is a wise and powerful Wizard of the First Order, protecting Richard from birth so that he could fulfill his destiny of becoming the first true Seeker in a thousand years, also added great magic and color to the show. Zed was also a great help to The Seeker in bringing down Darken Rahl's tyrannical rule of dark magic. Darken Rahl, by the way, is the main villain.

And you guys should watch out for Cara Mason who is one of the feared order of women known as Mord-Sith. She doesn't have a sword but you wouldn't want to mess with her and her Agiel. It might look like a common "batuta" but it can break and kill even the toughest man. Her killer moves are solid yet her devilish charm will make guys melt like butter. It will really be a lost if the show will not get another chance to return for another season. I think the show has proven that it is more than just worth watching. This cold-bloodied killer babe may be as tough as steel but there's a soft spot in her somehow.

Now before they pull the plug, you guys might want to watch it. Find your own copy of The Legend of the Seeker Seasons One and Two. I guarantee you a very enjoyable and awesome series to follow.

Not On Any Given Sunday

In rare occasions, I chance on getting a glimpse of local celebrities. Strangely though, I was luckier with what I call my jologs moment when I was still in Cebu than here in Manila. Though local stars abound in this side of the country, the odds of finding myself in their midst are less in most times.

One of those rare moments happened last Sunday. And of all the occasions it had to be during a mass in a basketball court that evening. I attended the said mass with my girlfriend and her family together with the peaceful residents of Justinville in Bacoor, Cavite.

It was the second time-- since the parish got its new set of priests—that a mass was held there in that village. I believe it was also the parish priest’s way of reaching out to the people after earning that some would rather attend mass in SM Bacoor than the parish church itself. Those people probably thought God won’t mind since He is everywhere.

It was only during the Offertory part of the liturgy that I realized Lani Mercado-Revilla was also in the crowd. She was with her brother-in-law Mayor Strike Revilla. While Lani got the wine and water, Mayor Strike took care of the chalice for the offertory. She was shyly throwing smiles to those who have been staring at her since she got there.

It’s that time of the year when people in power, and those who plan to be, would show themselves up for the people to see. It’s just sad since they had to go for such a show so people would recognize them. I guess the large picture of Lani just right next to where the altar was put up was not enough that she had to be there in the flesh.

Well, I must say, Ms Lani Mercado-Revilla looked nice. She doesn’t look like she had any children. She was radiant in the yellow polo shirt and simple and neat denim she was on. In fairness to her, she didn’t try to steal the show. No grandstanding happened after the mass. It was a good move, I say. Even the mayor was hesitant to give a short speech which is unusual for politicians.

But then I heard the people in the village weren’t really supporters of the Revilla’s the past elections. I think that explains the hesitation to give a speech.

I’m not campaigning for or against anyone. Perhaps the excitement of having to add another episode of my celebrity sightings in my blog drove me to post this. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance of taking a photo of her for this post. I don’t want my girlfriend’s dad see me excitedly snapping some shots of her. I can’t afford to show him my jologs side. At least, not just yet.

Michael Jackson "Just Left The Building" At 50

A cardiac arrest took the King of Pop from our world. It was at 12:00PM when it all happened. The paramedics weren't able to revive him. I can just imagine how heartbreaking it was for those paramedics.

His comeback concert was supposed to be the "Final Curtain" but death was so impatient with Michael Jackson and just can't wait. But could it be that the said concert stressed him out so much that his body gave up on him? Was it the reason why he moved the original concert date? The organizers says otherwise. When asked about Jackson's physical condition, Randy Phillips of concert backers AEG Live said: "I would trade my body for his tomorrow. He's in fantastic shape." But I believe he won't be as willing to trade it right now, I suppose.

To Michael Jackson, wherever he is now, the world wants to thank you for the great hits you shared to us. You are such a great loss to the world. But like other great music legends, your legacy and songs will stay.

Have a great journey.

Doing Groceries with Jodi Santamaria in SM Southmall

I was on hurry buying (I still need to get some sleep for work later) some ingredients in SM Southmall for the pork adobo I'll be having for dinner when I felt something strange with the people around me. Everyone seemed uneasy and are checking all the gondolas as if looking for something. They seemed to have the same thing in mind. Then I soon found out-- the "socially aware" side of me just can't let it pass-- that almost everyone was trying to catch a glimpse (as if they were able to even get close) of a female celebrity doing her groceries with her son and husband Pampi Lacson.

Yup, it was the pretty Jodi Santamaria-Lacson in a green polo shirt and jeans but she looked lovely. Her husband was tailing her but on the phone almost the whole time while Jodi checking out almost each gondola.

Most of the time I get starstruck when someone famous or almost-famous person is in front of me, and tonight is no exception. Pathetic as it might seem but I've been deprived of such opportunities to catch glimpse of our own stars. I can just still count with my own hands the stars I remember getting a chance to see in person.

But the stupid thing is, I was so busy checking her out but didn't even get to snap a shot with her (but with her husband around, a stolen shot could have at least compensate). Now, the whole experience will just be one of those I-should-have-moments in my life. Silly me, huh?

But since it was one experience I would want to recall, this post must come to be. And probably, this photo will picture how she looked like that night I saw her. If only her husband wan't there, I could have braved through to get a shot (picture, I mean) at her.

Though I failed to "capture" Jodi Santamaria with my Samsung G800 with all its 5-mega pixels, the night still went well. The pork adobo was yummy.
***
Next time, I won't let such a chance to slip pass my camera.

Floyd Mayweather vs Juan Manuel Marquez bout Postponed(?)

Rumor has it that it's not a rib injury which made Floyd Mayweather Jr. backout (okay, postponed) from the anticipated(?) clash between him and the ever stubborn Juan Manuel Marquez in July 2009.

But whether it's a rib injury or just him chickening out, it still doesn't look good for him and with his plans of facing the charm of Manny Pacquiao in the ring. I don't remember hearing Manny backing out from a big fight. I recall he even fought a Thailander even when he was not feeling well during fight night. He lost to that lucky Thailander though-- who actually grabbed the turn of events to his favor.

Now, I doubt it if Mayweather Jr. is indeed the best opponent for Pacquiao at the moment. Miguel Cotto seems to be more interesting to see with Pacquiao inside the ring.

Mayweather Jr. should have stayed at home and enjoyed his retirement. What he is doing won't help him and his reputation at all.

Let your "rib" speak for you.

Proud and Loud Filipino - Ako Mismo

It's Philippine Independence Day and everyone (I bet most bloggers too) are on their toes posting about it. Obviously, I'm joining the posting spree and give my piece to this site.

I am proud to be a Filipino. I can't think of any nationality that I would rather belong to than being a filipino. Although I think a dual citizenship won't hurt but if I am asked to choose a nationality, it's Filipino in a heartbeat.

Apparently, you can hear and see such claims of pride to almost everyone with this nationality whoever they may be. Even those kababayans who are following the lifestyles of other countries can be caught standing up to their being Filipinos. So being proud of this great nationality, even with all the political mud involved, recently is no longer as admirable than before.

So instead of asking myself if I am proud to be a Filipino, I think it's long overdue to ask myself what can I do to give back the same pride to my country? You can ask yourself that too especially on this very significant day for our country.

Since hearing our fellow Filipinos bragging about how proud they are (and we should be too) having Filipino blood in their veins is still music to the ears, I have included some of them right here (I got them from ClicktheCity.com ). And pictures of personalities who has given pride to our country can also be found.

Are you proud of being a Filipino? Can you name more people who have given pride to our beloved Philippines?

Insanity That Is Boys Over Flowers

Lately, these people in photo were part of me and my gf's daily routine. No, we are not acquintances or friends (though I think my gf acquaintanceswould love to be that with them). It just so happen that the carenderia where we, most of the time, have our dinner are kapamilyas and would have us enjoy the meal while watching this koreanovela. At first, we just had to bear the corny-ness (excuse the term) of each episode (not to mention my amazement on how they fluently speak Tagalog. hehe). But I guess, we Filipinos are just suckers for this type of tv drama which includes these Tagalog-speaking Koreans so there's no wonder why we got hooked on this.

As if we can't get enough of the Korean-version F4 and the wacky Geum Jan Di, we even had to score a pirated DVD(shame on me!) just to watch the episodes we missed. Just as I expect, we spent two days with our eyes glued on the tv, laughing and, at times, in tears.

But just when we almost reached the 25th episode, we had to stop the insanity. Just out of nowhere, we just agreed to get ourselves out of the craziness Goo Joon Pyo and Ji Hoo caused.

If there is one thing I noticed while watching Boys Over Flowers, it's the resemblance of some of the casts with some of our local celebrities. Kim Hyun Joo, the older sister of Joon Pyo, in some angles looked like Heart Evangelista. And Han Chai Young looks like the now controversial Katrina Halili.

Kim Hyun Joo (Heart Evangelista ?)

Han Chai Young ( Katrina Halili ?)

Do you see the resemblance? Well, probably it was just me who needs to have my eyes checked.

Fear the Wrath of A Woman, Hayden!

Blogging was all weird and strange to me at first. And it was a bit expensive for me (still is today though). Back then, I had no means of accessing the web without going to cafes and renting their worn out PCs. Not to mention, time was something I didn’t have back then -- at least for blogging. In fact, I had countless blogs created but never got to update them for the same reasons. But finally, and I’m glad, I was able to keep one and maintain it – referring to this ‘baby’ here.

But why do blog anyway?

As I ask myself this, I look back and read my old posts and I’m proud to say that I’m all over this humble blog (who else but me on my own self-titled blog, right?). I see me. I read me. And I feel me on every post (with all the grammatical and typo errors you can find). I see and appreciate how I dealt and survived every cherished moment. Past posts also show how those moments showcase my thoughts and emotions every time. The web has become my mirror and this blog is my reflection (Mulan?).

My good news is, my girlfriend is contemplating on initiating a blog for herself. Now this is something I have been looking forward (praying for) to. Almost every single day I tried to let her know how my blog is doing and how exciting blogging is. Then I would always end up asking her if she would like to manage a blog herself. And now that she is ‘thinking’ of having her own ‘baby’ this should be exciting.

However, I can’t take any credit for her ‘enlightenment’. Yeah, I did my best (even telling her I’ve earned some good bucks with blogging) to convince her to blog, alright, but it’s the current scandal that persuaded her. Stepping on the rights of women surely can wake up the fiery bitch inside every cool headed lady. For my girlfriend’s case, it will give her a venue to share cents.

So should I send my ‘thank you’ to the infamous Doc Hayden? Nah, I’d rather not go that far.

Terminator Salvation -- Me and the Machines

Have you seen the newest Terminator movie? Terminator Salvation. I watched it last night. Though I had to go to work, I still resolved to spend Php130 for the movie. I say it was worth it but not quite.

The movie was not for one-time viewing so I grabbed something for dinner and eat it inside the movie theater. I settled for a large Shakey’s Special Pizza and some Mojos in garlic dip. Thought I’d get cheaper drinks outside the cinema so I didn’t order Coke at Shakey’s. Like a soldier ready for battle, I enthusiastically handed the “ticket lady” my ticket while my food and drinks are on both hands.

The movie already started 20 minutes ago when I was able to park my ass on the chair. Well, thank god, I can still watch it again after this one ends. As I was WOW-ed by the action stunts and graphics, I gobbled down on my pizza slices and enjoyed my ice cold Coke. The movie may not be the best movie of the year but it wasn’t disappointing as well. Just my opinion. And I admit, I got thrilled when the original Terminator showed up. But without the hasta la vista, baby” this time.

No, I will not spoil the fun for you and tell you how the movie went. I already paid the price of being a movie spoiler when my unintentionally(?) told my girlfriend who killed Professor Dumbledoor in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. And besides, I paid for the movie so I think so should you. He he. Just kidding.

**

Oh, by the way, never got to watch the first 20 minutes of the movie. It was so stupid of me that I watched the last full show that. So that makes the movie worth it but not quite.

FHM Event At The Office

What comes to mind when you read or hear the abbreviation FHM? I believe most of you would say the Men's Magazine FHM comes to mind, right? Well, at least to most of us men would agree. Sexy ladies gracing the covers of this mag each month just appears to be very effective catching our attention and, eventually, remembering things associated with it.

So the company I'm working at came up with the idea to name it's new program FHM. It's got nothing to do with sexiness or nudity. Though some of us crossed their fingers and hoped that the organizers would add kinkiness to the program. But to their disappointment, the organizers just didn't fall for it. Probably, we didn't cross our fingers that well.

Flores Hermosa de Mayo is the activity the organizers cooked for us for the month of flowers. I must say it's not entirely a disappointment though since the guys still got what they hoped for...or did they?

A lot of activities in line with this program are supposed to keep us up and giddy for this month. The company's "Fun" Department made sure that we just get ourselves busy with work but also enjoy our stay with the company. Fun and exciting activities should take care of that aspect.

One of the activities is the Search for Reyna Flores Hermosa de Mayo. Each team is represented by one lady who could be the one to grab the title this year. Like how they do it in the baranggays, each of the contestants would ask people to buy their tickets considered as votes. Whoever gets the most votes, wins can be crowned the fairest (or the one who knows more people in the company than the others).
Let me show these some pics of the ladies I'm referring to:

Now, remember, these are not your common beauty contestants. Some of them actually just volunteered for the lack of a contestant to represent their respective teams. So I say good luck to each of them. They deserve to win the title just for being brave to volunteer themselves for this activity to happen.

You think they're FHM materials? Do you see Bangs Garcia, Katrina Halili, Paloma, Marian Rivera, or even the gorgeous Angel Locsin in them?

Who do you think would go home with the title?

DJ Chico Garcia Did It To Me Again

Sorry, guys, I just can't help but post an entry from DJ Chico Garcia's Blog. I find it funny and worth posting to get a good laugh. Honestly, I believe I can relate to this entry since I am also fond of singing songs with my own lyrics. No, I'm definitely not a composer or even trying to be one but when the lyrics escape me, I would do it my way. I can carry a tune(ahem) but I suck with lyrics(he he). But surprisingly, people love it every time I "make fun" of the songs. They just don't get the clue; that I really don't know the lyrics most of the time but just like the song...right lyrics or not.

Well, I hope you liked it as much as the 'jologs' in me did. It sure did make me laugh and stretch my face muscles. Some fun are still inexpensive, you just have to know where to look.

YouTube Got The Best Talents

Tested through time, Youtube has been.

A lot of used-to-be-ordinary people got their now enjoyed or regreted (depends on whoever is concerned) "famous" status thanks to (or no thanks to) Youtube. Yeah, the said site has become a "talent scout" for a lot of folks. Videos found in this site are giving those in it a lift to reach their "stardom".

But though some videos have found their chance under the limelight, hundreds, if not thousands, of videos are still at the back of the stage. Anticipating. And sometimes praying for Lady Luck to smile at them. They await their shinning moment... or otherwise.

Yet, I just can't help but wonder if the people who are "stars" in those uploaded videos really wanted to be there and be the Next Big Thing? Of course, there are some who were praying videos of themselves be featured in Youtube hoping to be household names. Have you heard or seen videos about the funny pinoy duo doing some lipsynchs? Or how about the comedienne Rex Navarete's Inday and the Superfriends?

And who would miss those poor individuals in videos who have become victims of ridicule and public humiliation. Everyone have been talking about them, willingly sharing their takes to others on these poor victims, judging them according to how the videos went. Somehow, this reality is quite unfair and sad for these people throwing their judgements on those victims, most of the time, don't even have a clue about the people concerned. But then you also can't blame these people for their actions since the chance to pick on those in Youtube is right under their fingertips.

Take for example, the latest controversial video people have been feasting their eyes on (and leaving men scrambling like dogs to get a chance to download or score a pirated copy of it) is that of actress Katrina Halili and so-so-doctor Hayden Kho. Fine, seeing Katrina girate with those Belo-hips is a sight which explains the ever increasing viewers of the video. But the most controversial scandal on video was their "private moments" which is not as accessible because of it's new found "Classified" status. I heard all over the news that the National Bureau of Investigation is on their toes in catching those circulating the video since the day Ms. Halili filed a complaint and even cried in the Senate. So I won't be surprised if a copy of the said video would cost much due to it's "confidentiality".

To those who watched the talked-about video, which I believe first went public in 2007, might say the actress was really taken advantaged of by the shameless doctor. Some of my officemates even sympathized with Katrina but still others believed she was asking for it. Whatever is your take of it, one thing's for sure, this flame won't die down that easy. We will still hear about this for few more days or weeks just like when The Hitman learned boxing the hard way in the hands of the Pacman.

So, have you seen the video? If I have, i'm not telling. I still believe some things should be kept secret from the rest of the world...these poor souls in the photo should have.
